Electronic Key Switch: EKS
vs.
 Access control system: EKS Mega

With the electronic key switch EKS/access control system EKS Mega, conventional keys are replaced by transponders for non-contact activation. Transponders are available in four different versions and each one is a unique specimen with a non-recurring and unchangeable identifier (similar to a fingerprint). This identifier is saved in the EKS/EKS Mega. Only saved transponders have an authorization and can activate the respective EKS/EKS Mega.

While EKS only has simple key switch functions, EKS Mega is employed where several user groups shall have different authorizations. In this case, each transponder can be assigned with an independent authorization profile. Example: transponder A has access to floor 1, floor 2 and to the basement garage – transponder B has access to floor 3 and to the basement garage. In combination with the switching modules MegaBean, the central unit of EKS Mega releases the respective authorization. For each floor which is included in the access control, one MegaBean is required.

The advantages at one glance

  • EKS/EKS Mega are perfectly suited for modernizations and can replace conventional key switches
  • Easy handling (no code input required)
  • Reader unit/central unit available in almost every Style
  • Transponders can simply be kept in the bunch of keys
  • Transponders are protected against magnetism, water and dirt
  • After loss, the transponder versions BlueTag and StrongTag may be cloned and reordered
  • Configuration is done directly at the reader unit/central unit by means of special function cards
  • Recall light/permanent illumination in 6 luminous colours with 3 luminosity levels
  • EKS 42 VP/EKS 42 Mega VP is mounted behind 2 mm thick stainless steel faceplates without requiring a cutout and is thus protected against manipulation, vandalism and water. It is also possible to mount it behind a safety glass faceplate.

SCHAEFER Academy: Webinar

Access control for elevators - transponder-based solutions & electronic key switches

We provide an overview of access control solutions for elevators. We introduce you to the EKS and EKS-Mega systems and deal with questions such as:  What transponder types are there and how do they differ? How can new transponders be saved and deleted again? How can individual access authorizations be assigned for the individual floors? And what should be considered during installation? In the subsequent Q&A session, we will address your individual questions.
